Gorillas is a German on-demand grocery delivery company with the promise of delivering groceries within minutes of ordering by using dark stores. Gorillas were one of the fastest-growing European startups from 2020-2022. During my tenure there, I worked as a senior brand designer to help develop their visual identity.

Colour palette

We decided on a punchy, high-contrast theme for our core identity.
This decision helps to develop the impression of Gorillas as an expressive, energetic, and empowering brand. We wanted a homage to the underground music scene of the 90s.

Typography

The Gorillas Sans & Gorillas Sans Display typefaces were bespoke and
made for Gorillas. They exist between 19th-century American Gothic and 20th Century European Grotesk typefaces and use an optimally-weighted combination of each tradition’s best features.

Photography

We favored a visual language that would act like a look into the spontaneous side of life. Taking the viewer right into the moment through emotional storytelling, bold and honest. We wanted to communicate the brand's authentic and cheeky side, with an analog style.

Paid social

We worked hard to develop a bold and simple visual language across all of our CRM communications. This allowed us to stay in uniform across multiple international marketplaces.
